Villupuram: The AIADMK executive cadres’ meet held at Villupuram district turned into a battleground on Saturday after a clash broke out between rival factions, one led by Mailam MLA C Ve Shanmugam and the other by district secretary Pasupathi.The meeting, held at a marriage hall, was organised under the leadership of Pasupathi. Tensions flared as supporters of Shanmugam blocked the entrance when Pasupathi arrived. They raised slogans against Pasupathi, demanding his exit. But Pasupathi’s supporters forced entry into the auditorium and raised counter-slogans against Shanmugam. Soon, both sides exchanged blows. After the meet, as Pasupathi was driving along the Krishnagiri–Puducherry national highway, a large stone was hurled at his car.
