Vadodara: The Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) on Tuesday notified the constitution of its Board of Management (BoM) and Executive Council (EC) under the provisions of the Gujarat Public University Act, 2023.While the two statutory bodies have been constituted with nominations across academic, administrative and external categories, several positions have been left vacant.The notification issued by the university states that the nominated members will have a tenure of two-and-a-half years or until they attain the age of 62 years, whichever is earlier.Chancellor Shubhangini Raje Gaekwad will chair the Board of Management, with vice-chancellor Prof Bhalchandra M Bhanage serving as the vice-chairperson. The Executive Council, meanwhile, will be chaired by the vice-chancellor.Among the prominent appointments to the BoM are professor Amit Dholakia, head of the Department of Political Science; deans — professor Ashutosh Biswal and professor Archana Gadekar; Dr Khyati Shah from Polytechnic College; four university teachers including professor Vipul Kalamkar, professor HM Patel, professor Deepak M Maurya and professor Ashishkumar Prajapati; and vice-chancellor of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya professor Manoj Choudhary as the national-level expert. Jigar Inamdar has also been included as an eminent member, while registrar (officiating) professor KM Chudasama will serve as the member-secretary without voting rights.EC includes registrar Chudasama, heads of departments professor Pragnesh Shah, Dr Hireni Mankodi and professor Madhu Sharan, four university teachers — professor Muralidharan Kunnummal, professor Gaurang Bhavsar, professor Pushpanadham Karanam and professor UD Patel — and industry representative Meena R Kaviya of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry.However, several positions remain unfilled. In the BoM, one head from college departments and two Academic Council representatives have not been nominated. In the EC, the posts of Controller of Examinations, Finance and Accounts Officer, four principals of affiliated or constituent colleges and one principal of a constituent college continue to remain vacant. The university stated that these positions would be filled as and when candidates fulfilling the mandatory statutory criteria become available.
