Patna: Health minister Mangal Pandey on Monday inaugurated the MRI facility at Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital in Rajvanshinagar, Patna.The service will be available to the general public from July 8 at a rate 6% lower than that prescribed by the CGHS. The minister said the facility was developed at a cost of Rs 7.5 crore.Pandey also announced that the country’s largest 400-bed neuro and orthopaedic hospital, being constructed in Patna, would be ready within the next two months. The hospital is being built at an estimated cost of Rs 215 crore. “A dedicated sports injury unit will also be launched soon,” he said.Digha MLA Sanjeev Chaurasia was present at the event.Pandey said under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, patients at LNJP Hospital receive free treatment worth Rs 1.5 crore annually. He also extended his best wishes to LNJP director Dr Subhash Chandra on his retirement. “He has served the public diligently as a doctor for the past 18 years,” the minister said.
