Pune: Several political leaders and student groups have taken to social media and other platforms to question MPSC’s decision to proceed with the state services main examination in Oct, before the additional chief secretary V Radha-led exam reforms committee submits its recommendations and the proposed reforms are implemented. However, another group has not questioned the delay saying it affects aspirants mentally and financially, and called for the exams to be conducted on the same dates, ensuring all safety measures.NCP (SP) MP from Baramati, Supriya Sule, on Friday demanded via a social media post that the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) cancel the existing question papers for the state services main examination 2026 and prepare fresh papers through an independent and secure mechanism if it cannot guarantee their confidentiality. She said the exam should be postponed by a few days, if necessary, rather than risk the future of candidates following the alleged Drug Inspector paper leak.Vishwajeet Kadam, MLA from Palus-Kadegaon, also shared a post calling for the postponement of the exam. “From the creation of question papers to printing, storage, and distribution, it is essential to ensure confidentiality and impenetrable security at every stage. The current question papers should be canceled, and new ones should be prepared through an independent, transparent, and more secure process. The hard work of lakhs of students—who prepare for the exam year after year, toiling day and night—should not go to waste due to the negligence of a few,” Kadam’s post read.Kiran Nimbhore of the MPSC Students’ Rights organization said that student groups have now split into two factions: one that wants the exams on time, and another that wants the exams to be postponed until all safety and security measures are in place. “Both are right in their own way. This is what happens when trust in an institution is destroyed. The MPSC, being the apex examination body in the state, must restore this trust among the common public,” said Nimbhore.9 months since selection, no appointment letterNCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar on Saturday raised the issue of 76 MPSC-selected supply department inspection officers awaiting appointment orders for nine months, questioning why they remain unappointed while other candidates from the 2024 state services received their orders on Aug 10 this year.His social media post said, “Due to the sheer inefficiency of the administration and the negligence of the govt, these selected candidates have been left in limbo. The supply department is delaying appointments by offering ad-hoc postings, requested transfers, and citing administrative reasons to the candidates. We request that the govt pay attention and grant these candidates immediate appointments.”
