Jhansi: Jhansi-Lalitpur MP Anurag Sharma on Thursday sought new train services, additional stoppages, faster station redevelopment and expansion of railway infrastructure during a meeting with North Central Railway (NCR) general manager Naresh Pal Singh at Orchha.The meeting, chaired by MP Anurag Sharma was convened to review ongoing railway projects and seek suggestions on passenger amenities and development works.Sharma sought optimal utilisation of railway land, expediting Lalitpur station development, a Bundelkhand train stoppage at Baruasagar and faster work on level crossings 367, 369 and 341.He also proposed extending the Lucknow Intercity to Lalitpur, a rail link to BIDA, a Bhopal-Lucknow sleeper Vande Bharat and a tourism-oriented Bundelkhand Circuit train.Bhind-Datia MP Sandhya Rai sought an Utkal Express stoppage at Basai and a Bhind-Delhi train, while Jalaun MP Narayan Das Ahirwar sought an Orai-Delhi service and a Konch-Kanpur link.Other MPs sought stoppages at Morena and Orchha, completion of the Gwalior-Sheopur Kalan gauge conversion, development of Atarra station and a Chitrakoot Dham Karwi-Rameswaram train.NCR GM Singh said Jhansi division had recorded around 4.58 crore originating passengers and earned Rs 1,016 crore in passenger revenue during 2025-26, while freight loading generated Rs 947.15 crore. He said 14 pairs of trains had been provided 14 new stoppages at 10 stations since 2025-26, while 648 special train trips were operated. The GM said three major stations, Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi Junction, Gwalior Junction and Khajuraho were being redeveloped. Of the 16 stations selected under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, work at six had been completed. He assured the MPs that their suggestions would be examined and feasible proposals incorporated into development plans.
