Bengaluru: Bangalore South MP Tejasvi Surya has urged Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) to consider postponing the exams for the posts of assistant horticulture officer (AHO) and assistant director of horticulture (ADH), scheduled for Sept 26 and 27, citing clashes with several other competitive tests.In a letter to KEA executive director H Prasanna, dated Sept 8, Surya said he had received a representation from the Alumni Association of the University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot, highlighting the overlap in exam dates. According to the letter, the AHO/ADH exams coincide with the SSC Selection Post Examination Phase XIV-2026, to be conducted from Sept 16 to 26, and the SBI clerk exam scheduled on Sept 26 and 27. The KSRP, IRB and KISF police constable examination is also scheduled on Sept 20.Surya said several candidates have applied for both the AHO/ADH exams and the other competitive tests.However, KEA said it is getting an equal number of representations from candidates asking them not to postpone it. One such representation reads: “KEA has already given more than two months’ time from Aug 5 for the AHO exam preparation. All sincere aspirants have prepared as per the schedule and are ready for it. Now, some non-serious candidates who haven’t studied are creating nuisance on social media platforms, demanding postponement in the name of SBI exam clash. The syllabi of SBI and AHO are totally different, one cannot prepare for both… If the AHO exam is postponed, it will disturb the calendar of many other upcoming govt exams.”Prasanna said: “KEA has already made all necessary arrangements for conducting the exams on the scheduled dates. Therefore, as of now, we are proceeding with the notified schedule.”
