Colva: Colva police have recovered additional 4.5kg of suspected ganja from the residence of Issac Regan Pereira, 29, a resident of Navelim. Pereira was arrested by Colva police at Cavelossim on Thursday after he was allegedly found in possession of 3.6kg of suspected ganja.Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted Pereira at Cavelossim and seized the suspected contraband. During the course of investigation, police said that the accused disclosed storing additional quantities of the drug at his residence in Navelim.A police team subsequently raided his residence and recovered another 4.5kg of suspected ganja, taking the total quantity seized in the case to approximately 8.1kg, with an estimated open-market value of around Rs 8 lakh.SP Siddhant Shirodkar said the accused had allegedly purchased the contraband in bulk and was looking for prospective customers to sell it.Police are now investigating the source of the contraband and attempting to identify the alleged supplier. Investigators are also probing whether Pereira was preparing to deliver the drugs to a specific person or was operating independently.Pereira has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
