Bathinda: In the case involving firing at Punjabi singer Gulab Sidhu’s residence in Pharwahi village of Barnala on the intervening night of Sept 12-13, Barnala police have nominated slain rapper Sidhu Moose Wala’s former manager Shaganpreet and his father, Saudagar Singh, as accused. Police on Saturday arrested Saudagar Singh from Khanna and are investigating his alleged role in the firing.A resident of Fatehgarh Sahib, Saudagar Singh was reportedly on the run before a CIA team arrested him from Khanna.Shaganpreet’s name had earlier figured in the murder case of Youth Akali Dal functionary Vicky Middukhera, who was shot dead in Mohali on Aug 7, 2021. Shaganpreet is learnt to be out of the country.Police had already arrested nine accused in connection with the firing at Gulab Sidhu’s residence. With Saudagar Singh’s arrest, the number of arrests in the case has risen to 10.Barnala SSP Mohd Sarfaraz Alam said police had nominated both Shaganpreet and his father in the case and arrested Saudagar Singh. Police are also investigating the role of other persons and are trying to trace those who allegedly provided logistical support to the shooters and other accused.Three masked men allegedly opened fire at the main gate of Gulab Sidhu’s residence around 1.30am on Sept 13. Sidhu was not at home at the time and was abroad in connection with a show. Of the nine persons arrested earlier, two were apprehended following a brief encounter with police.Gulab Sidhu was considered close to Sidhu Moose Wala.After the firing, an audio clip purportedly issued in the name of gangster Dony Bal surfaced on social media. In the clip, a person could purportedly be heard accusing Gulab Sidhu of using Moose Wala’s name and performing shows for people opposed to the slain singer. The authenticity of the audio clip could not be independently verified.
