Bathinda: The Supreme Court on Thursday granted bail to Pawan Kumar Bishnoi and Jagtar Singh, accused in the May 29, 2022, murder of rapper and singer Sidhu Moose Wala.Bishnoi was arrested on June 11, 2022, and Jagtar Singh on Oct 13, 2022.A bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta passed the order in an SLP that challenged the Punjab and Haryana high court order that denied bail. The high court noted that it would be appropriate to await the recording of statements of eyewitnesses before the accused were granted bail.Bishnoi’s counsel argued that apart from sharing Bishnoi’s name, he had no connection with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. He contended that Pawan got roped in based on a confessional statement recorded during his custody in another case. He was accused of providing the Mahindra Bolero SUV at the instance of accused Goldy Brar, which was used in the commission of Moose Wala’s murder.It was contended that there were about 180 prosecution witnesses and the petitioner had already spent over 3.5 years in custody. Counsel for Jagtar Singh, on the other hand, claimed that Jagtar was only a neighbour and did not facilitate the alleged recce for the incident.
