Kanpur: A month after their wedding, a 28-year-old man in Banda’s Kalinjar area has lodged an FIR against his wife for allegedly eloping with her boyfriend, taking gold, silver and Rs 25 lakh. The man, a veterinary doctor, claimed that the incident occurred on Mar 22, but he delayed filing an FIR due to social stigma. He named his 24-year-old wife, her boyfriend, and three unknown persons in the complaint. He said his wife vanished on Mar 23 morning, a month after their wedding on Feb 19. “Jewellery and Rs 25 lakh cash were gone,” he said.According to him, neighbours spotted her leaving with three men in a car around 1:30 am.He said his in-laws initially claimed they didn’t know about her whereabouts, and only spilled the beans when he pressed for answers. They stated that she was in a two-year affair with a photographer, wanted to marry him, but faced their opposition. He alleged his wife had even brought her boyfriend to a family function at his place, supposedly for a photoshoot, to scope out the house. Kalinjar police station in-charge Sukhram Singh said, “A case has been registered based on the veterinary doctor’s complaint. Police are searching for the woman and trying to trace her location.” Preliminary investigation revealed that her boyfriend was in contact with the woman’s family, he said.
