Jaipur: The southwest monsoon remained weak over Rajasthan Saturday, bringing only light to moderate rainfall to scattered parts of the state, while temperatures rose across several western districts due to subdued rain activity. The India Meteorological Dept (IMD) said monsoon activity is likely to revive next week.Rajgarh-Sadulpur in Churu district recorded the highest rainfall in the state at 50 mm, followed by 40 mm each at Pahawadi and Bharatpur tehsil in Bharatpur district, Alwar tehsil in Alwar district, and Bhadra in Hanumangarh district.Bahadurpur and Ramgarh in Alwar district, Dholpur tehsil, and Sadulshahar in Sri Ganganagar received 30 mm each. Rainfall of 20 mm was recorded at Kishangarh Bas (Alwar), Pawta (Jaipur), Pilani (Jhunjhunu), Kumher and Kama (Bharatpur), Sangaria (Hanumangarh), and Taranagar and Reni in Churu district.Malsisar and Buhana in Jhunjhunu, Alwar city, Kotkasim (Alwar), Bari (Dholpur), Nagar (Bharatpur), and Hanumangarh received 10 mm each, while many other places in eastern and western Rajasthan recorded less than 10 mm of rainfall.In Jaipur, the weather remained dry, with the city recording a maximum temperature of 35.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24.1 degrees Celsius. No rainfall was reported despite cloudy conditions in the morning.The subdued monsoon pushed up daytime temperatures, particularly in western Rajasthan. Sri Ganganagar remained the hottest place in the state at 41.7 degrees Celsius, followed by Phalodi at 40.6 degrees Celsius, Jaisalmer at 40 degrees Celsius, Bikaner at 39.3 degrees Celsius and Barmer at 39 degrees Celsius.Jaipur recorded a maximum temperature of 35.1 degrees Celsius, while Alwar recorded 35.4 degrees Celsius and Kota 35.9 degrees Celsius. Mount Abu remained the coolest place in the state at 25.2 degrees Celsius.According to the IMD, the temporary weakening of the southwest monsoon has reduced rainfall activity across most parts of Rajasthan. However, conditions are expected to improve from next week, with rainfall likely to increase over eastern Rajasthan, including the Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions, while scattered showers are also expected in parts of western Rajasthan.
