Mohali: The Govt Railway Police (GRP) on Sunday filed a case against the business partner of a property dealer on charges of abetment to suicide, following a complaint lodged by the family of the deceased, Shavinder Kumar Dhiman, a resident of Phase 11, Mohali. Dhiman allegedly died by suicide by jumping in front of the Paschim Express train near Kambala village in Mohali on Saturday.GRP investigating officer, ASI Sugreev Rana said the case against the business partner of the deceased was registered on the statements of his family members. The family alleged that Shavinder suffered heavy financial losses in his business and was under severe mental stress due to disputes with his partner, which drove him to take the extreme step.The GRP registered a case under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Sirhind GRP police station. Officials said the allegations are being investigated.ASI Rana said the body was handed over to the family members after postmortem. No arrests have been made in the case so far.
