Kolkata: Holi festivities turned violent, with 2 incidents of mobs assaulting cops, leaving at least 4 officers injured, including an ASI, being reported in the city on Tuesday. Cops registered cases against unidentified persons involved in rioting and obstructing public servants. The assaults, which took place at the AJC Bose Road-Ripon Street crossing and in the Metiabruz area, led cops to launch a crackdown.In the Park Street PS area case, a minor accident near a busy crossing on AJC Bose Road and Ripon Street escalated into a full-blown road rage brawl between occupants of a car and a 2-wheeler around 5.15 pm. Witnesses recalled how the crowd formed an unlawful assembly, with around 40 of them hurling threats and physically assaulting cops at the spot with fists and blows. At least 2 cops sustained injuries.At Metiabruz, violence, including stone pelting, erupted around 5.20 pm. The ASI suffered injuries while trying to disperse mob during the brawl.
