Noida: A scuffle broke out in Choda village after members of a fringe group accused a pizza shop owner of spitting on pizza dough while preparing food for customers. The group claimed CCTV footage showed the owner spitting on food, but police said the claim could not be confirmed.They, however, took cognisance of the video and put the owner in preventive detention while further investigation is under way.According to locals, the owner of the shop has been running the place for around four years. Members of the fringe group claimed that some of the employees working at the outlet told them the owner had a habit of spitting on food while he was alone in the shop.Members of the group allegedly obtained CCTV footage from the shop with the help of an employee and claimed it clearly supported the allegations. The group reached the shop on Sunday and confronted the owner, following which a scuffle broke out and the owner was allegedly thrashed.During the confrontation, the owner denied the allegations and said he sometimes blew air on the hot food while cooking. As the situation worsened, locals called the police.A team arrived at the spot and detained the owner for questioning. Sector 24 police station SHO Subodh Kumar said that they put the owner in preventive detention while they investigate the fringe group’s claims. The mob also accused the owner of threatening them and starting the scuffle.
