Prayagraj: Promoting scientific innovation and highlighting the role of youth in building a developed nation, the department of Mechanical Engineering at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad (MNNIT) organised an event on the occasion of National Science Day in collaboration with the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), on Saturday. The event focused on fostering scientific temperament while underlining the importance of balancing technological advancement with human and ethical values in the journey towards a ‘Developed India’.Delivering the keynote address, Prof Rajeev Srivastava, head of the department, spoke on ‘artificial, human and spiritual intelligence in the present digital age’. He said that AI is rapidly transforming modern life, but stressed that technological progress must go hand-in-hand with human sensitivity, ethical conduct and spiritual awareness. He encouraged students to integrate social responsibility with scientific excellence to contribute meaningfully to national development.Chief guest Prof Sanjay Samant Rai, founder of the Indian Climate Congress, highlighted the National Science Day theme, ‘Women in Science – Catalysing Viksit Bharat’, and emphasised the urgent need to address climate change and environmental conservation. He noted that environmental challenges require innovative scientific solutions and active participation of young researchers.
