During a recent meeting with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana enthusiastically recounted their transformational journeys. Women such as Chandu Bharti and Shabeena Khatoon shared how the financial support they received was the key to launching their own businesses, acquiring livestock, and laying the groundwork for future aspirations.

Patna: Beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana (MMRY), who were connected through video conferencing in large numbers on Monday, shared their experiences before the CM Nitish Kumar.Chandu Bharti, a resident of Muzaffarpur district, and Shabeena Khatoon, a resident of Nalanda district, told the CM how they got benefits from various schemes, including the MMRY launched by the state govt.

Bharti said the amount of Rs10,000 proved to be of immense help to her, as she bought a cow after adding Rs10,000 taken as a loan to the sum received under the MMRY.Stating that she started earning income from the sale of milk, Bharti said she would open a “sewing centre” and provide training to other women in sewing and stitching. She said she would not only earn money but also help others to do the same.Narrating her story, Khatoon said her life was confined to the four walls of the house, but a new chapter was added to her life after she got associated with the Jeevika self-help group. She carried out her business with the help of financial assistance of Rs10,000 received under the scheme, and she will carry out a milk business after buying cows from the additional financial assistance of Rs2 lakh that she will get under the scheme.“You (the CM) did plenty of work to make women self-dependent, besides taking umpteen steps for their empowerment,” Khatoon said.They narrated how they benefited from schemes like Mukhya Mantri Vridhjan Pension Yojana, the amount of which was hiked to Rs1,100 from Rs400 per month.
