Gorakhpur: Sejal Gupta, an alumna of Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT), won a silver medal, securing second place at the Asian Bench Press Championship being held in Istanbul, Turkey, by lifting 92.5 kg on Sept 24.Sejal, a Mechanical Engineering graduate, has shown a steady improvement in bench press. Earlier, she won a silver medal in the 63 kg junior category at the 33rd National sub-junior, Junior, Senior and Masters Bench Press Championship held in Vasco da Gama, Goa, in Oct 2025, with a lift of 72.5 kg.She then clinched gold in the same category at the 34th National Sub-Junior, Junior, Senior and Masters Bench Press Championship in Faridabad, Haryana, in Jan 2026, improving her lift to 87.5 kg.At the Asian Championship, Sejal further enhanced her performance by lifting 92.5 kg, marking another milestone in her sporting career.MMMUT vice-chancellor Prof Anupama Kaushik Sharma congratulated Sejal on her achievement and praised her performance on the international stage.Chairman of the Council of Student Activities Prof B K Pandey and Undohead of the Mechanical Engineering Department Prof Sanjay Mishra also extended their congratulations and wished her success in future competitions.Chairman of the Council of Student Activities Prof B K.
