Mangaluru: Mangaluru City North MLA Y Bharath Shetty on Wednesday demanded a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in recruitment and competitive examinations conducted by Karnataka government agencies.Addressing reporters, Shetty accused the Congress government of failing to act on complaints relating to examinations conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), and various recruitment agencies. He alleged that several examinations were marred by administrative lapses, including errors in question papers, translation mistakes and discrepancies in OMR sheets.Referring to police recruitment examinations, he said aspirants had been preparing for years but were yet to receive clarity on the recruitment process. He also claimed that issues in question-paper translation persisted even during re-examinations.The BJP MLA alleged that recommendations made by committees on examination reforms had not been implemented. He further claimed that irregularities had surfaced in veterinary and other recruitment examinations and that nearly 2.5 lakh government posts had remained vacant for the past three years.Shetty criticised minister Priyank Kharge, alleging that the government had failed to address concerns raised by job aspirants. He called for reforms in KEA and KPSC, an inquiry into alleged changes in eligibility criteria for certain examinations, and a discussion on recruitment-related grievances raised by candidates across the state.He also criticised the state government over law and order, claiming drug-related incidents were increasing and women’s safety remained a concern. On the proposed merger of KIOCL with NMDC, Shetty said discussions were under way with Union minister HD Kumaraswamy and that a few technical issues were yet to be resolved.
