Aizawl: Mizoram will publish the final electoral rolls under the SIR on Sept 7, officials said on Friday.District election authorities and electoral registration officers in all 11 districts have completed preparations for the publication, scheduled for Monday.Pre-publication review meetings were held in Aizawl, Lunglei, Lawngtlai, Khawzawl, Mamit, Kolasib and Siaha, where election officials, political party representatives, NGOs and media personnel reviewed the revision process and disposal of cases.In Aizawl, district election officer and deputy commissioner Lalhriatpuia said the final roll would be published on schedule despite the district having the largest population and the highest number of Assembly constituencies. Political parties and civil society organisations expressed satisfaction with the process and raised no objections to publication of the final roll.Officials said verification, hearings and applications for inclusion, deletion, shifting and correction had been completed within the prescribed timeframe.In Lunglei, 21,552 electors were called for hearings after the draft roll was published with 98,808 electors. All the hearings have been completed.In Kolasib, the number of electors fell from 61,340 in the draft roll to 59,943 in the final roll. The district received 1,869 applications for inclusion and recorded 3,266 deletions through Form 7, death, shifting and migration.In Mamit, hearings were held for 13,192 electors across three constituencies, resulting in the deletion of 893 names. Officials said the exercise was based on verification against the 2005 electoral roll and included scrutiny of family and ancestral records.Officials in Lawngtlai, Khawzawl and Siaha also reviewed hearings, corrections and other cases ahead of publication. Siaha officials stressed the need to ensure that no eligible voter was excluded while preventing ineligible entries. They added that inadvertent errors could later be corrected through continuous updating of the electoral roll.The final rolls will be published at different times on Sept 7. Lawngtlai will publish its roll at 10.30 am, while Lunglei will publish it at 2.30 pm.
