Gorakhpur: The body of a 15-year-boy, who had been missing for five days after leaving home for coaching classes, was recovered from a water body in Chiluatal on Monday evening, police said.The deceased, a resident of Mohammadpur Tola Parsouna, had left for a coaching institute in Betiahata on Sept 23 but never reached there. His family later lodged a missing person complaint after extensive searches failed to trace him.Police said the student’s last mobile phone location was found in the Pipiganj area before the device was switched off. CCTV footage from various locations was also examined.The body, which was in a decomposed state, was spotted floating in the water by villagers, who alerted the police. Family members identified the deceased from his clothes. The body was sent to BRD Medical College for postmortem.Tension prevailed at the mortuary as relatives alleged that the boy had been murdered. His father claimed that the boy was in contact with a Class 11 girl and alleged that the killing was linked to her.Acting on the complaint lodged bythe boy’s family, police detained the girl, her parents and brother for questioning.Chiluatal SHO Suraj Singh said the case appeared to be linked to a suspected love affair, though the exact cause of death would be confirmed only after the postmortem report. He added that further action would be taken based on the evidence that emerges.
