Surat: The body of a 13-year-old boy who went missing on Monday night was recovered from the Narmada river in Bharuch on Wednesday. The deceased, identified as Kanav Shah, a Class VIII student, had left his home on a bicycle around 9pm. After he failed to return, his family approached Bharuch C Division police and filed an abduction complaint.According to the preliminary investigation, Kanav had reportedly been upset over his parents’ initial refusal to allow him to join a school tour to south India. The school had proposed the tour and when Kanav discussed it with his parents, they suggested that the money could instead be used for a family holiday. Following heated discussions, his parents eventually agreed to let him join the school tour.However, Kanav reportedly became emotional, believing that his parents had not given their consent wholeheartedly. On Monday night, he told his parents that he was stepping out to lock his bicycle and would return shortly. When he did not come back, the family searched for him and later informed the police.During the search operation on Monday night, police found Kanav’s bicycle near the Old Sardar Bridge over the Narmada. A person had reportedly seen him at the spot in a disturbed state of mind. Police searched the river but could not locate him.On Wednesday, Kanav’s body was found on the riverbank opposite the Golden Bridge. Ankleshwar police registered an accidental-death case, while Bharuch C Division police are investigating the abduction complaint.
