Kashmir’s chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Sunday expressed deep shock and outrage over what he described as the brutal killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei, terming it an act that has shaken the Muslim world.

In a statement, Mirwaiz said the people of Jammu and Kashmir collectively condemn the alleged killing as well as the “ongoing aggression against Iran” and the reported massacre of innocent girl students in Minab.

“Deeply saddened and outraged at this brutality. In this hour of immense sorrow, our hearts beat with the resilient people of Iran. May Allah grant strength to the oppressed, elevate the martyrs, and bring swift justice to those responsible,” he said.

Calling it a moment of unity for the Muslim Ummah, Mirwaiz urged people to rise above divisions and stand together in protest and solidarity against what he termed continued aggression in the region.

Meanwhile, the Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulama (MMU) has called for a complete strike on Monday. Mirwaiz appealed to the people to observe the shutdown with unity, dignity, and complete peacefulness.

“The strike call should be observed in a disciplined and non-violent manner to register collective protest and solidarity,” he added.
