Srinagar, Mar 10: The Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid on Monday held a meeting chaired by Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq to finalise arrangements for Juma-tul-Vida, Shab-e-Qadr and Eid-ul-Fitr — occasions made especially significant this year by the expectation that congregational prayers will be permitted at the historic Jama Masjid Srinagar after a gap of nearly seven years.

The meeting noted that Juma-tul-Vida, the last Friday of Ramzan, will be observed on March 13, with the possibility that the following Friday may coincide with Eid-ul-Fitr. The Mirwaiz will deliver the sermon at 12:45 pm, with congregational Friday prayers to be offered at 2:20 pm.

The Mirwaiz said the occasions held immense spiritual significance for the faithful and directed members, staff and volunteers of the Auqaf to step up preparations — particularly with regard to cleanliness, crowd management and facilitation for devotees.

The Auqaf will coordinate with concerned government departments, including those responsible for water supply, electricity and municipal sanitation, to ensure all necessary arrangements are in place for the smooth conduct of prayers and related religious functions.

Expressing confidence in a peaceful observance, the Mirwaiz said that with collective effort and coordination, these important religious gatherings could be held with dignity and in a spiritually uplifting atmosphere.
