Shivamogga: What was intended as a viral social media stunt has landed a minor and a vehicle owner in legal trouble. Shivamogga Traffic West police registered a case after a video surfaced showing dangerous stunt riding on a busy city road.Action was initiated after traffic officials spotted the clip circulating on social media. The video shows three youths riding a single motorcycle along NT Road without helmets, performing reckless manoeuvres to shoot social media content. On tracing the vehicle’s registration number, investigators found that the rider was a minor.Police initiated action against the underage rider and also booked the vehicle owner for allowing a minor to operate the motorcycle. The case registered at Shivamogga Traffic West police station includes charges under the Motor Vehicles Act, such as juvenile driving, triple riding and riding without a helmet.Burglary cracked in 72 hoursMeanwhile, in a swift operation, Vinoba Nagar police cracked a burglary case within 72 hours, arresting the accused and recovering stolen valuables worth over Rs 6 lakh.The burglary occurred on June 15 at the residence of Raghavendra, a resident of 4th Cross in Vinoba Nagar. Taking advantage of the family’s absence, the accused broke into the house and decamped with gold and silver jewellery. Based on a complaint, police registered a case and, on June 18, arrested the prime accused, Rohith, 22, a resident of neighbouring Rajiv Gandhi Layout.Police said that, based on his statements, they recovered the entire stolen property, including 101g of gold jewellery and 460g of silver articles, with a total estimated value of Rs 6 lakh.
