Panaji: A rent-a cab driven by a 16-year-old boy working as a helper at a garage at Vasco rammed into a two-wheeler at Bambolim, resulting in the death of the rider, Janardan Harmalkar, 49, a resident of Dhargalim.Agasaim PI Anant Gaonkar said that the minor boy drove from Vasco to Goa Velha and the accident took place when he was returning on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.Goankar said the vehicle owner, Abdul Aziz Khan, from Valpoi, had given his car to a friend from Vasco to give it on rent. The owner said that the vehicle was parked at a washing centre near the garage where the minor worked as a helper.Knowing that the key was kept at the washing centre, the minor took the key and drove the vehicle without informing anybody.Police said that they are verifying the facts of the vehicle owner.Meanwhile, Goankar said that an FIR has been registered against the minor and the report will be sent to the Juvenile Justice Board. He said that an FIR has also been registered against Khan for permitting a minor to drive his vehicle.
