Nagpur: A 23-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl, which resulted in her pregnancy, in Kamptee area. The matter came to light on Wednesday from a report at the Mayo Hospital where the girl was admitted after she consumed phenyl on February 21. As per the FIR filed at Old Kamptee police station, the accused, Mahadev Nipani, established physical relations with the survivor without her consent at his home about one-and-a-half months ago (around mid-January).
Doctors at Mayo Hospital discovered the girl was approximately five weeks pregnant and informed the police booth, which alerted Old Kamptee Police Station. Offence was registered against Nipani under Sections 64(2)(m), 65(2), 71, 351(2), and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.The FIR also mentioned that the girl had known Nipani for the last one year. The girl’s parents had reportedly warned the accused to stay away from their daughter, but he allegedly abused and threatened them. Statements from both the survivor and her parents (the complainant) were recorded.
