Kanpur:A 17-year-old rape survivor allegedly died by suicide at her house on Sunday night. Her father alleged that the accused, who were out on bail, pressured the family to settle the case.The father, a farmer, said his daughter hanged herself from a bamboo pole with a dupatta. Two years ago his daughter was raped by her uncle and cousin, he said. After some days she complained of stomach pain. When the family got an ultrasound done it revealed her pregnancy.Eight months ago she delivered at a govt hospital but her child died three days after delivery. Both the accused were sent to jail, but after being released on bail, they started pressuring the family for a compromise. He alleged that due to this pressure, the girl ended her life. She was the second among four sisters.Girwan police station inspector Suresh Saini said both the accused lived in another village. “The post-mortem has been conducted. The matter is being investigated.”
