Ahmedabad: A minor fire broke out near the Central Library Building of Gujarat University on Tuesday, creating panic among students who had arrived on campus for exams. The fire reportedly started in a pile of dry garbage that was lying near the library for a long time.As the flames intensified, students in the vicinity became alarmed, leading to brief chaos and confusion. However, the situation was quickly brought under control due to the prompt action of the university’s library staff. They immediately used fire safety equipment and water to contain the flames and also informed the fire brigade.Within a short time, fire brigade officials arrived at the scene and ensured that the fire was completely extinguished before it could spread further. Fortunately, no injuries or damage to property were reported.Student representatives raised concerns over the negligence in maintaining cleanliness on campus. According to them, heaps of dry waste had were been lying near the library for several days, posing a serious risk. They demanded immediate action to clear such garbage and prevent similar incidents in the future.
