Berhampur: Five persons were arrested and a 17-year-old teenager was detained, all from Andhra Pradesh, in Ganjam district for allegedly entering Ganjam for hunting wild animals on Monday. Several explosive materials were seized from them, police said.The accused persons were Somadula Suresh (29) of Gasika Palem Street, Kuppili Charan (20) of Ajjaram, Erra Balaraju (20) of Ekta Street, Dharmavaram, Alapana Govindu (25) of Peddabbai Gari Street, Kuppili, Bora Ramana (31) of Ajjaeam and a 17-year-old boy — all are from Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh. They were only speaking Telugu, police said.Police said the villagers of Kotilingi found them with explosive substances. As they were unknown to the local areas and unable to speak in Odia, villagers raised doubt about their intention in camping in the forest area and informed the police. Police reached the spot and nabbed all six persons. They found lead bullets (85), charcoal, suspected sulphur powers, a sword, six mobile phone sets and others from the accused persons.“During the interrogation, the accused persons disclosed that they entered the nearby forest area for poaching of the wild boar by using the explosive,” said Biswajit Nayak, IIC, K Nuagaon police station. Police said the accused were arrested under different sections of the BNS, Explosive and Explosive Substance Act and the Arms Act.
