GURGAON: The city saw clear skies on Thursday morning, which turned partly cloudy by the afternoon. While the weather is expected to remain largely dry over the next two days, rainfall is likely on Sunday, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD).At the Gurgaon KVK station, the minimum temperature was 17.5°C on Thursday and the maximum was 33.4°C, up from 15.4°C and 32.2°C, respectively, a day earlier. At The NorthCap University station, the minimum temperature increased to 19.5°C from 16.2°C on Wednesday, while the maximum reached 35°C.Across Haryana, the average maximum temperature rose by 1°C and was 1.8°C above normal. The average minimum temperature increased by 2.4°C and was 2.7°C above the seasonal average, according to IMD.The weather department further said multiple weather systems are influencing northwest India. “A western disturbance is present as a trough in the middle tropospheric westerlies. An upper air cyclonic circulation over west Rajasthan and adjoining central Pakistan is also affecting the region,” IMD said.Another western disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from the night of March 28 and may lead to further rainfall. IMD has also forecast light to moderate rain at isolated places between March 26 and 28, and again on March 31. A wider spread of rainfall is likely on March 29 and 30. Conditions are expected to turn dry after this period.The rain may be accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40 to 50kmph, with the speed increasing to 60kmph. IMD said no significant change in maximum temperatures is expected over the next two days, followed by a drop of 3 to 4°C due to the rainfall.
