T’puram: The state govt on Tuesday appointed senior IAS officer Minhaj Alam as the new additional chief secretary, home and vigilance department, following the appointment of Biswanath Sinha as the state’s chief secretary.Alam, a 1996 batch IAS officer, was serving as additional chief secretary, agriculture and farmers welfare department and agricultural production commissioner, positions that he will continue to retain.The reshuffle in the top bureaucracy comes in the wake of Biswanath Sinha assuming charge as chief secretary, necessitating the appointment of a new administrative head for the home department.In another transfer, Anju K S (2017 batch), who was serving as staff officer to the chief secretary, has been posted as director, state lotteries. She will also hold full additional charge as managing director of Kerala State Backward Classes Development Corporation Ltd (KSBCDC).
