Patna: Private schools have played an important role in expanding education in the state, particularly when school education faced several challenges around three decades ago, said education minister Mithilesh Tiwari on Sunday. He urged private school operators to adopt a nearby govt school and contribute to its academic and infrastructure development.Better coordination between govt and private schools could help strengthen school education in Bihar, added Tiwari while addressing the 14th teachers’ felicitation ceremony organised by the Private Schools and Children Welfare Association at Ravindra Bhavan.Referring to his initiative ‘Hamara Vidyalaya, Hamara Swabhiman’, Tiwari said people who had studied in govt schools and later achieved success should remain connected with their former schools and contribute to their development. Similarly, private school operators can support nearby govt schools and help create a better learning environment for students, he said.Around 2,000 teachers from private schools attended the event and listened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 138th ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme along with the education minister. Tiwari also felicitated teachers for their contribution to education.Tiwari directed education department officials to ensure timely disposal of statutory matters related to private school operators. He also urged private schools to cooperate with the state govt and the education department.He said providing quality education alone was not enough and schools must also focus on developing values, innovation and leadership among children. For this, he stressed the need for greater cooperation and dialogue between govt and private schools.Association national president Shamael Ahmad, Faiz Ahmad, Suresh Singh and private school operators and teachers from various districts were present at the event.
