CHENNAI: Milky Mist Dairy Food has commissioned a new Skyr and Greek yoghurt manufacturing facility at its integrated plant in Perundurai, Tamil Nadu, with an investment of around Rs 40 crore.The facility, equipped with ultrafiltration technology, has a processing capacity of up to 150 tonnes a day, significantly higher than the company’s earlier capacity of around 20 tonnes a day commissioned in 2022.Milky Mist said demand for the category has grown more than 50% annually since 2022, while demand for its high-protein yoghurt products has more than doubled in recent months.The company was the first in India to introduce ultrafiltration technology for manufacturing Skyr and Greek yoghurt in 2022. The new facility is aimed at scaling production, maintaining consistent quality and expanding its high-protein dairy portfolio.The expansion is part of Milky Mist’s broader investment and modernisation programme at Perundurai, which was among the objectives outlined in its initial public offering.K Rathnam, whole-time director and CEO, said the investment would strengthen Milky Mist’s position in the high-protein segment and creates a robust platform for sustained profitable growth.
