Gumla: A 27-year-old migrant worker was found hanging from a tree in Gumla district on Saturday morning, police said. The deceased was identified as Satendra Oraon, a resident of Ghodatangar Sarna Tanr village.Villagers spotted the body on Saturday morning and informed his family and police. He returned home from Kerala six months ago, family members said. Police reached the spot and sent the body to Sadar Hospital, Gumla, for post-mortem examination.Family members suspect foul play, while police are questioning locals and collecting evidence to determine the circumstances leading to the death.Satendra’s father, Sadhnu Oraon, said, “Surendra returned home about six months ago. After coming back, he was consuming alcohol regularly.”Sadhnu said he met his son on Friday morning before he went to graze cattle. When he returned in the evening, Satendra could not be found. Sadhnu said music was playing on Satendra’s mobile phone when his body was brought down.“For the last two days, the deceased was mentally disturbed. The cause of death is yet to be ascertained,” said OC of Ghagra police station, Mohan Kumar Singh.“It seems the deceased took the step because he was disturbed after his wife left only six months into their marriage,” he added.
