Mangaluru: Mangalore Electricity Supply Company (Mescom) has geared up to address potential challenges during the monsoon season. To undertake emergency maintenance and restoration works across its jurisdiction, Mescom has formed a task force comprising 489 personnel across 14 divisions in the four districts. A total of 62 vehicles have also been deployed for emergency operations. Additionally, a 23-member team has been constituted to handle customer calls and complaints.For emergency response, the deployment in Dakshina Kannada district include Attavar with 12 personnel and six vehicles, Kavoor with 36 personnel and eight vehicles, Puttur with 48 personnel and eight vehicles, and Bantwal with 50 personnel and seven vehicles .In Udupi district, Udupi will have 55 personnel and five vehicles, Karkala has 24 personnel and four vehicles, while Kundapur has 48 personnel. In Shivamogga district, Shivamogga has 33 personnel and one vehicle, Shikaripura has 24 personnel and three vehicles, Bhadravathi has 20 personnel and two vehicles, and Sagar has 34 personnel and six vehicles. In Chikkamagaluru district, Chikkamagaluru has 40 personnel and four vehicles, Koppa has 41 personnel and three vehicles, and Kadur has 34 personnel and seven vehicles.Mescom has already begun trimming trees and branches that could obstruct power supply lines or pose safety hazards during the rainy season. Work is also under way to repair and strengthen vulnerable electric poles and power lines posing danger.“Pre-monsoon preparedness activities have already commenced across all four districts under Mescom’s jurisdiction. Directions have been issued to all field officers to take necessary preventive measures in their respective areas, and the work is progressing effectively,” said Jaya Kumar R, Mescom MD.He urged consumers to contact Mescom’s 24×7 Central helpline through the helpline number 1912 for electricity-related complaints.
