Chandigarh: Former Punjab BJP president Manoranjan Kalia on Tuesday termed the newly announced ‘Meri Rasoi’ scheme of the Aam Aadmi-led govt as “an attempt to influence voters in an election year”.Kalia said: “In this election year, the AAP govt brought a new scheme called ‘Meri Rasoi’, under which pulses, sugar, turmeric, salt and oil are promised to 40 lakh families, covering 1.33 crore people. This is nothing but an attempt to influence voters.”He further said: “Earlier this year, the govt announced Rs 10 lakh health insurance for the families of Punjab, where Rs 1 lakh was insured by United India Insurance Company and Rs 9 lakh by the State Health Agency. I raised several questions in a press conference regarding that scheme, but till date no answers were given by the govt.”Accusing the AAP-led govt of “consistently failing to fulfil its manifesto promises”, Kalia, a former Punjab minister, said: “The promise of giving Rs 1,000 per month to women was not fulfilled. The commitment of providing 25 lakh jobs to youth remains unachieved. The tall claims of making Punjab corruption-free within one month of forming the govt proved hollow.”Kalia added: “Now, once again, just before elections, the govt is trying to lure people with announcements of distributing ration in instalments. But the people of Punjab are wise and will not fall for such false promises.”MSID:: 128755417 413 |
