GURGAON: A 32-year-old man died after a Mercedes car allegedly collided with his scooter on the Vatika Chowk flyover on Friday.On Saturday, an FIR was registered against the unidentified driver of the luxury car on charges of rash driving and causing death by negligence following a complaint lodged by Amit Thakran, cousin of the deceased, Vipin.Amit said Vipin, a resident of Jharsa village in Gurgaon, was returning to Gurgaon from Mandkola in Palwal when the accident took place on the Sohna-Gurgaon carriageway.A police officer said the preliminary investigation revealed that the accident took place between 12. 30am and 1am, adding Vipin was riding his scooter on the wrong side of the road.“The Mercedes driver himself dialled the emergency helpline 112, informed the police and shifted the injured man to the hospital.The victim’s family was not immediately aware of the accident and came to know about it only in the morning,” the officer said, adding a notice will be served on the driver, who will be called to join the investigation.Police are also examining CCTV footage and other evidence to ascertain the sequence of events.After the family reached the mortuary at Civil Hospital in Sector 10, it identified Vipin’s body on Saturday.The family members later visited the accident site. Badshapur police registered the FIR under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the BNS.
