Shillong: Meghalaya will dedicate the month of July to entrepreneurs through a series of engagements, storytelling sessions and social media outreach programmes to highlight their journeys, the chief minister announced on Tuesday after launching the ‘Achievers of the Month’ programme here.Fifty entrepreneurs from different parts of the state were honoured during the event. The flagship initiative is aimed at recognising outstanding individuals and fostering a culture of entrepreneurship across Meghalaya, with the programme designed to create a platform where achievers from different sectors can share their journeys, inspire others and showcase the impact of government interventions in enabling growth and innovation. The ‘Achiever of the Month’ award was presented to Andy Kupar Lyngdoh, founder and CEO of ParadigmatiX Private Limited, a Shillong-based creative agency specialising in graphic design and presentation design for international clients. The chief minister said the govt’s role is to facilitate entrepreneurship through policies, infrastructure and support systems, while entrepreneurship drives economic growth. “Government creates the base, but it is entrepreneurship that makes the economy take off. Entrepreneurship is the bedrock of sustainable livelihood generation and economic progress,” he underscored. He said the programme aims to break sectoral silos and bring success stories to the forefront. “We want to share your stories with the world. What may seem simple to you is truly inspiring for others,” he told the achievers.Entrepreneurs and achievers at the event shared their life experiences and spoke about struggles, resilience and growth.Highlighting opportunities across sectors, the chief minister said avenues for entrepreneurship exist in sports, agriculture, music and other emerging areas, citing initiatives supporting farmers, artists and sportspersons and noting each sector’s potential for enterprise and job creation. He also commended the role of PRIME (Promotion and Incubation of Market-driven Enterprises) and its rural outreach in transforming grassroots entrepreneurship, citing examples of individuals scaling businesses from modest beginnings to reach markets in major cities. The ‘Achievers of the Month’ programme will, in the coming months, feature achievers from sectors including sports, agriculture, education and public service, with the stated objective of building a statewide movement of inspiration and recognition.
