Shillong: Altogether 1,729 teachers from Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and state govt schools will get training in life skills, financial literacy, and mental, sexual and reproductive health across seven districts of Meghalaya.

The Meghalaya Teacher Training Academy (MTTA) prepared the master trainers through a six-day intensive programme held in Shillong from Aug 3 to 8 under the Meghalaya Multisectoral Project for Adolescent Wellbeing, Empowerment and Resilience (MPOWER).

An official said the initiative is part of the state’s efforts to strengthen the teaching profession, support holistic adolescent development and improve learning outcomes.

The capacity-building programme was led by resource persons from Magic Bus India Foundation and World Being India. A total of 65 master trainers from East Khasi Hills, Ri Bhoi, East Jaintia Hills, South West Khasi Hills, West Garo Hills, East Garo Hills and North Garo Hills took part.
