Ajmer: Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University vice-chancellor Prof Suresh Kumar Agrawal has submitted a proposal to the Rajasthan govt to introduce the Rajasthan Common Admission Services (RCAS), a unified digital admission platform for all state universities and affiliated colleges from the 2027-28 academic session. The proposal, sent through the additional chief secretary, higher education dept, aims to make the admission process more transparent, efficient and student-friendly.Under the proposed system, students would be able to apply to multiple universities and programmes through a single registration, eliminating the need for separate applications, document uploads and fee payments. Admissions would be based on a centralised merit list and preference-based seat allotment. The platform is proposed to include online document verification, centralised merit preparation, real-time vacancy updates, dynamic counselling, integrated payment gateways and AI-based analytics for policy planning.Agrawal said the existing admission process forces students to navigate multiple portals and counselling systems, leading to unnecessary expenditure of time and money. He said RCAS would simplify admissions while improving transparency and accessibility, particularly for students from rural, tribal and economically weaker sections. The proposal is in line with the National Education Policy 2020 and the state’s digital governance initiatives. Agrawal urged the govt to conduct a feasibility study and set up a high-level committee to examine the implementation of the system from the 2027-28 academic session. He said RCAS could become a landmark reform in Rajasthan’s higher education system.
