T’puram: A suspected drug trafficker escaped from police custody after a raid that led to the seizure of 87g of MDMA from his house at Kadinamkulam on Tuesday night, triggering a massive search operation by police and district anti-narcotic special action force (Dansaf).The accused, identified as Asjar (36), a native of Cheraman Thuruthu fled while police were taking him to patrol vehicle after the seizure.According to police, a joint team of Kadinamkulam police and rural Dansaf conducted a surprise search at the accused’s residence. During the inspection, officers recovered the MDMA from the bedroom of the house.Soon after the escape, police launched an extensive search with the help of the dog squad. However, the operation did not yield any results.Senior officers, including rural superintendent of police, are directly supervising the investigation.
