Gurgaon: With MCG stepping up inspections, cleanliness drives and outreach to traders and residents on waste management, the civic body imposed penalties of Rs 25,000 on a restaurant on Old Judicial Complex Road and Rs 10,000 on a salon on Jharsa Road on Thursday for allegedly littering.Earlier, on Sept 18 and 19, MCG issued 32 penalties totalling Rs 91,500 to shopkeepers for allegedly dumping garbage outside their establishments and failing to maintain dustbins, civic officials said on Saturday.The action was carried out in Islampur, Sikanderpur Furniture Market and Sadar Bazaar.During the outreach initiative, MCG additional commissioner Yash Jaluka and Ward 27 councillor Ashish Gupta inspected Sadar Bazaar. They engaged with local shopkeepers regarding sanitation practices, advising them against littering external roads and allowing waste to accumulate near their shops.To keep public spaces clean, MCG is driving community participation and introducing elected representatives to oversee local maintenance.A cleanliness drive was conducted around Shani temple and Daulatabad flyover crossing, with residents participating alongside councillor Surekha Chauhan (ward 34), and another one was carried out in ward 22 with councillor Vikas Yadav.“These campaigns are focused on discouraging littering in public spaces and encouraging residents to ensure proper disposal of waste,” said MCG spokesperson SS Rohilla.The civic body has warned that action against violations would continue and appealed to shopkeepers and market stakeholders to follow sanitation rules, keep dustbins at and around their establishments and refrain from dumping waste outside their establishments.
