MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya along with officials inspect waterlogging hotspots, directs completion of drainage works before monsoon

Gurgaon: MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya on Thursday inspected several waterlogging-prone locations in the city and directed officials to complete ongoing drainage and flood-mitigation works before the onset of the monsoon.Accompanied by a team of MCG and Gurugram metropolitan development authority officials, Dahiya visited sectors 10A, 9, 9A, 4, Surya Vihar and areas along the railway line in Zone 2 to review preparations aimed at preventing waterlogging.During the inspection, the commissioner assessed the progress of drainage improvement projects being undertaken jointly by MCG and GMDA and sought updates on the status of individual works. He instructed officials to maintain the quality and pace of construction and ensure that all projects are completed within the stipulated timeframe.Officials informed him that MCG is constructing a sumpwell in Sector 9, while GMDA is carrying out cleaning of the kutcha drain along the railway line to improve stormwater drainage in the area.Dahiya directed officials to accelerate desilting and cleaning of drains, remove obstructions in drainage channels, and strengthen pumping arrangements at vulnerable locations. “Special attention should be given to low-lying areas and locations near the railway line, where waterlogging risks are higher during heavy rainfall,” he said.The commissioner also directed field teams to respond promptly to complaints related to waterlogging and ensure quick resolution of issues reported by residents. Officials briefed Dahiya on the progress of various drainage projects and monsoon preparedness measures.
