Mysuru: Appealing to all property owners with pending property tax dues payable to the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) to clear their arrears immediately, MCC authorities on Monday directed officials concerned to initiate action against defaulters.At a special review meeting on property tax arrears, MCC commissioner MK Savitha reviewed ward-wise details of tax defaulters and held detailed discussions on the action to be taken against properties with long-pending unpaid taxes.In accordance with govt rules and the 2025 Gazette notification, tax defaulters must be issued first, second and third notices as part of the prescribed legal procedure. If the outstanding tax remains unpaid even after the issuance of these notices, further legal measures, including property attachment or seizure, may be initiated as permitted under the relevant laws.Accordingly, the commissioner directed zonal officials to complete the notice-issuance process in all property tax arrears cases by the end of Sept. If taxes remain unpaid within the stipulated period, further legal action will be initiated in accordance with the rules, she said.Meanwhile, the MCC commissioner also directed officials to ensure the mandatory collection of service charges from tax-exempt institutions. A detailed review was conducted on the collection of service charges from various institutions exempt from property tax.
