Chandigarh: The municipal corporation Saturday conducted a special anti-encroachment drive using newly introduced body-worn cameras for enforcement staff.The drive was carried out in Sector 26, Sukhna Lake, Rock Garden, Naka barrier, Sector 22 and Sector 47 to remove illegal vendors and unauthorised encroachments from public spaces.Enforcement teams, led by sub-inspectors equipped with body-worn cameras, recorded the entire operation to promote fairness, professionalism and public confidence in the enforcement process.During the drive, officials removed illegal vending activities that were obstructing public movement and issued 78 challans to violators for encroaching on public land and carrying out unauthorised vending.The MC said the use of body-worn cameras enhances transparency and accountability during enforcement operations. It also appealed to citizens and vendors to comply with civic regulations and operate only from authorised vending sites to help maintain a clean, orderly and encroachment-free city.
