Pattan, Jul 27: To enhance urban hygiene and prevent seasonal diseases, Municipal Committee Pattan executed an extensive, multi-sectoral cleanliness drive across the town on Monday.
The drive was conducted under the nationwide Safai Apnao, Bimaari Bhagao (SABB) campaign 2026, launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). Aligned with the IEC Action Plan under Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0, the comprehensive effort focused on clearing drainage networks, eliminating Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs), and restoring local water bodies.
As part of the town-wide drainage clearance, frontline sanitation workers de-silted major channels, removing accumulated solid waste and silt to ensure the unimpeded flow of wastewater. This critical action prevents water stagnation and significantly reduces the risks of water-borne and vector-borne diseases during the monsoon season.
Concurrently, municipal teams successfully cleared and eliminated a chronic Garbage Vulnerable Point in Ward No. 02, situated behind the Government Girls Higher Secondary School. Following the physical cleanup, an on-site awareness session was held for local residents and students, urging them to utilize designated municipal bins and put an end to open dumping.
Further strengthening its environmental protection measures, Municipal Committee Pattan organized a targeted Water Body Cleanliness Drive at Sikh Naag in Ward No. 02.
Supported by ULB staff, Swachhata Executives, Community Mobilizers, and local volunteers, teams removed trapped waste and plastic debris from the water body and its surrounding banks.
Alongside the cleanup, field teams sensitized residents on the vital necessity of preserving natural water resources and adopting responsible waste disposal habits. Municipal Committee Pattan reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining regular cleanliness drives to build a healthier, disease-resilient community through continuous civic action and public participation.
