TNNLudhiana: To streamline the functioning of the building branch, MC commissioner Dr Neeru Katyal Gupta has ordered a major reshuffle and appointed permanent assistant town planners (ATPs) in all four zonal offices of the civic body. Officials said the changes are aimed at improving the branch’s working and expediting the recovery of dues.As part of the restructuring, newly appointed joint commissioner Deepjot Kaur has been made head of the building branch. MTP Vijay Kumar will work under her. Officials stated that the move follows recent directions from the state govt to roll back the current duty charge (CDC) assigned to various civic officials. Following these directions, the CDC given to a few officials in the building branch has been withdrawn, and permanent ATPs have now been posted in all zonal offices.Along with the ATPs, the rest of the building branch staff — including head draftsmen, building inspectors and draftsmen — has also been rationalised to streamline operations.MC commissioner Dr Neeru Katyal Gupta said appointing permanent ATPs in each zonal office will improve the working of the building branch. She added that efforts are underway to streamline the functioning of the civic body overall, and she has been conducting review meetings to ensure progress.Meanwhile, the building branch officials have been instructed to take action against illegal constructions and expedite recovery of dues from residents.
