Mandya: A first-year MBBS student of the Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) in the city died by suicide at the institute hostel on Sunday night.According to the Mandya East police, the deceased was identified as Bharat Y. “Bharat was staying in the hostel with two other students. Both of whom weren’t in the room on Sunday, as they went to their natives. The incident came to light when one of the roommates arrived on Monday morning,” explained college sources. The deceased had interacted with his friends till late on Sunday.Mandya SP Mallikarjun Baladandi said the student was from Yelburga in Koppal district. No death note was found at the incident site, said police. A case was registered at the Mandya East police station. TNN
