Ludhiana: With the objective of expediting work under the canal-based water supply project and ensuring timely reconstruction of roads, mayor Inderjit Kaur held a meeting with officials at the MC Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar on Monday.During the meeting, the mayor issued strict directions to officials to immediately take up road reconstruction in areas where water supply lines have already been laid. She also instructed them to streamline the work under the canal-based water supply project and complete laying of water supply lines at the earliest to minimise inconvenience to residents.MC joint commissioner Vineet Kumar, superintending engineers Sham Lal Gupta, Praveen Singla, Ekjot Singh and Parul Goyal, along with other officials of the municipal corporation and the water utility company, Ludhiana Urban Water and Wastewater Management Limited, attended the meeting.Mayor Inderjit Kaur said installation of water supply lines is being carried out across the city under the canal-based water supply project. She directed officials to speed up execution so that people do not face difficulties at the ground level. She stressed that unnecessary delays in completing connected works, including road restoration, would not be tolerated.She said officials of the water utility company have also been instructed to work in close coordination with civic officials to ensure that projects are carried out smoothly and with proper planning. Emphasis was laid on synchronising different stages of work to avoid repeated digging of roads.The mayor said development projects worth crores are currently underway in the city and added that senior officials have been directed to monitor progress of works on a daily basis. “I will also keep a strict vigil to ensure that residents do not face any inconvenience due to ongoing projects,” she said.
