Nagpur: Head of the department (HoD) of surgery and chairperson of medical board at Indira Gandhi Govt Medical College & Mayo Hospital Dr Nandkishore Jaiswal and his stenographer Ashish Metekar, both of whom were detained on Tuesday for allegedly demanding 30,000 bribe from an assistant motor vehicle inspector posted at sub-Regional Transport Office at Wardha, were remanded in 2-day police custody by the special court for ACB on Wednesday.Following detention of the duo, ACB and police had carried out searches during which around 35,000 cash along with valuables worth 5 lakh were recovered from the doctor’s residence, said an ACB source. Nothing substantial was found at the stenographer’s house, the source added.ACB had trapped the duo for allegedly demanding 30,000 bribe from AMVI for issuing fitness certificate for joining duty after his three-month medical leave. After some negotiations, the accused had allegedly showed readiness to accept 20,000 for issuing the certificate.
